The "Sand Dollar" sea urchin (or Kina Papa in Māori ). Mythological legend claims they represent coins lost my mermaids or the people of Atlantis. You'll find these cuties around the low tide mark on a lot of NZ beaches. I found this one at Ohope Beach and managed to carefully get it back to Wellington without breaking it for long enough to get a mould made. Up close they have the most amazing intricate patterns and textures but they are frustratingly fragile.
Sand Dollar Brooch cast in sterling silver using a sand dollar shell. Cast finish with polished highlights.
