Hormosira banksii, better known as Neptunes Necklace, is a species of seaweed native to Aotearoa that is found washed up on many beaches. I find it often on my local beach and love how it casually drapes itself across the sand. I loved the idea of creating an actual necklace with a mould of the seaweed but wasn't able to get a mould that I could create a wax model from. In the end I created this casting by hand so is my artistic impression of Neptunes Necklace. Cast sterling silver inspired by neptunes necklace seaweed.
