I find beauty in the textures and patterns of old, worn objects. I love the idea that these objects retain a beauty that may not be obvious to the casual observer but is complex, layered and requires time and consideration to appreciate. Sometimes the ageing process helps us to discover the essence of the object. Barnacles attach themselves to all sorts of things and I often find old shells on the beach with the remains of the barnacles still attached. I loved the idea of using the barnacle shell to create a 'bezel' for added colour.
Sterling silver barnacle ring, handmade using the lost wax casting technique. The cast ring has then had deep green cold enamel added to it to create a rockpool effect. Please note the green is slightly lighter than the colour in the images.
