The "Sand Dollar" sea urchin (or Kina Papa in Māori ). Mythological legend claims they represent coins lost my mermaids or the people of Atlantis. You'll find these cuties around the low tide mark on a lot of NZ beaches. Up close they have the most amazing intricate patterns and textures but the real magic is on the inside. I collected a few of them at Ohope Beach last summer and made a mould of the inside texture to use for these earrings. The earrings were first modelled in wax and then cast into sterling silver.
Cast finish with polished highlights.
