I use the lost wax casting process to make alot of my jewellery pieces. The process enables me to work with melted wax to make my models, allowing me to mimic the flow and movement of water. I enjoy the process of playing with the melted wax as much as the piece of jewellery that I create. It has taken me a long time to master the technique I use so that the wax is flowing freely but I retain just enough control to shape it. This technique is used in a lot of my jewellery, including these rockpool earrings. I spend alot of time hanging out around rockpools at my local beach, while my elderly dog has her daily swim. It is mesmerising the way the water swirls in and then draws back out again, creating circular ripples.
