The periwinkle shell - abundant on the beaches of Aotearoa - as it ages and wears away the beautiful interior spiral becomes exposed. Another example of the layers of beauty that are revealed as things age. The shell has been replicated in wax and then modelled onto a ring, before being cast in sterling silver. The cast ring has then had 23.5ct gold applied to it using the keum boo gilding technique.
