The more you look the more you see. I was away for the weekend with friends, staying at a wee fishing village called Ngawi, near Cape Palliser. It is situated on the rugged, exposed, south coast of the North Island and sits resolutely in the face extreme weather and sea conditions. My beach foraging rewarded me with an old crayfish shell. The shell was quite rough and thorny on the outside, and on the inside it had a beautiful pitted pattern. I chose to use the inside of the shell to create the texture for this ring, and modelled it in wax before casting it in sterling silver. The ring itself has been made using the melted wax technique I have developed for mimicing flowing water.
Cast sterling silver ring.
